Bike Church
2009
Barrio Anita Neighborhood
Tucson, AZ
Powder coated steel, bicycle parts, acrylic, LED lighting, solar panel
22’ x 12’ x 12’

Bike Church is a solar powered sculpture made from recycled bicycle parts. The project offered summer internships to a group of inner city high school students. Each student designed a circular panel within the sculpture, providing a means of individual expression. Additional highlights include bicycle chimes and adaptations of Mexican memorial shrines that allow visitors to contribute to the sculpture. This project was featured in Sculpture Magazine, V 29 No 4. With Joe O'Connell.
